Default Dye drops

I know everyone talks about how dye is so much more abundant in pre and everything, but is there any specific places within pre where dye, black or any other color, appear more than others? Or is it totally just luck of the draw? Thanks.

I haven't been to Pre in a while, but the last time I was there I stayed for a while to test this exact theory. I have, in fact, found that more dyes drop in the catacombs. Try going out of Barradin's Estate and enter the catacombs through that entrance, where the boots collector is. You can also exit Ashford Abbey and go behind that temple that Necromancer Munne is in, and make your way to Barradin's that way, killing the 50 or so gargoyles along the way. I think in 20 hours of total pre searing play, I accumulated something like 40 dyes, although no blacks.

Try going outside Fort Ranik and killing all the Bandits you can find, then repeat.

I did that for fun with my last pre character
I collected about 50 dye
I wasnt that efficient and probably took longer to do it than necessary
but in terms of skills / method it was easy

go monk secondary (or primary if you want to make a monk)

you get an enchantment that rebounds on your attacker, bane signet, and an AOE skill that attacks everyone around you

use these in the catacombs against the undead - holy damage does double damage to undead

follow the route to Oberon - on route there are lots of spiders which arent undead but do drop spider legs which you can sell in Ranik when you get a lot

after oberon there is a big circle with loads of undead
clear them
then on the way back there is a long corridor with the skull reaver at the end
again all undead
clear them

I pretty much got a dye every time I did the run

My last pre char has been in pre awhile to get dye drops and stuff like that. I kept getting Orange drops I got sick of that, took it out of pre and my first drop in post was a black dye from a gargoyle in old ascalon.

I lol'd.

Ele/Mo's make the best catacombs farmers....Bane Signet and Symbol of Wrath with a 6 or higher in Smiting drops 'em in seconds. Bane Signet knocks down an opponent ONLY if they are attacking.
